Provo River Guided Fly Fishing Trips
Utah's Provo River is recognized as one of the top 10 trout streams in the United States of America. The Provo River has much to offer for those seeking a fly fishing Utah experience. With 25 miles of river accessible to the public and fish populations of up to 3000 fish per mile; the opportunities for the fly fisherman to experience Utah fly fishing at its best change with each bend of the river. The dam structures at Jordanelle Reservoir and Deer Creek Reservoir control the water flows and guarantee the health of the river all throughout its riparian course.
The Middle Provo is a medium sized river. It is the perfect size for wading fly fishers; providing ease and mobility through the entire length of the river. There are designated parking and access points that place anglers on the river within eye shot of their vehicle. Those same parking and access points have varied distances in between them: giving the more adventuresome angler the opportunity to experience a solitary angling experience by means of a little walk.
The Provo River's meandering course flows through the picturesque Heber Valley. The base elevation of 5400 feet above sea level provides a climate that fosters a strong diversity of insect life. The year round aquatic insect hatch cycles offer the wild brown trout and rainbow trout the chance to feed daily. Daily feeding trout give visiting anglers a year round opportunity to have successful Utah fly fishing experiences on a true Blue Ribbon quality Rocky Mountain stream.
The Provo River's convenient location in the Heber Valley and the Provo Canyon make it a unique trout stream. Many points on the river are within an hour of the Salt Lake City International airport. Park City (Utah's foremost resort destination) is even closer; being around 20 minutes from the banks of the Provo River. The close proximity to these major destinations provides both visiting and local anglers the option to fish a half day guided trip.
The Provo River has all of the characteristics to fulfill any fly fisher's needs: from first time anglers to the most seasoned veterans.
There are many reasons to consider fly fishing Utah's Provo River on your next Rocky Mountain fly fishing vacation. The surrounding Wasatch Mountains are a year round playground for any outdoor enthusiast.
